OSCE Day x
Circular Futures Lab

Dan Lain-lain

Drawing upon my participation as one of the six Southeast Asian makers and designers selected for the Circular Futures Lab program, developed by the British Council in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, I engaged in workshops addressing circular design challenges and had the chance to meet local innovators in London working in the field of circular economy. In 2019, I organized the Malaysian chapter of Open Source and Circular Economy Day (OSCE Day), a global campaign aimed at fostering discourse and action to enable a circular economy through open-source practices.

The event featured curated talks and practical workshops focused on regenerative design, restorative practices, community engagement, and sustainable fashion. These talks brought together local experts and industry leaders for engaging panel discussions, providing valuable insights, and promoting meaningful dialogue on the importance of open source and circular economy principles.

In addition to the talks, the event featured a range of hands-on workshops aimed at practical sustainability solutions. Workshops included sessions on composting, repair, bioplastics, and plastic recycling. Participants gained knowledge and practical skills related to waste management, repair and maintenance, and exploring sustainable materials, contributing to a more sustainable approach in their creative processes and everyday lives.
